From Dark, Diner Shirley to Sunny, Shasta Daisy!

My daughter insisted that we change Shirley's name to Daisy. It really fits her now that she is sunny and bright. I liked the red but felt it was a bit dark. It seemed more 50's..like Laverne and Shirley days..(hence the name Shirley)  We had to take most of her down to the studs so why not make her exactly the way I want her!! And for those of you cringing because I painted the beautiful birch....My deepest apologies. Not all the birch needed to be replaced and in order for it to match (new shellac to almost 50 year old shellac) we would have had to replace alllll the birch. That's way to much $$ in labor, so she's painted a beautiful Cottage White by Behr. I love the combo of paint and stained birch.....

Check out her New sunny upholstery by Marco at Expo Interior Upholstery in Kirkland, WA

NOW she's happy and sunny!

New daisy curtains (I made em myself, thankyouverymuch)

And a new sign for Daisy. Pretty much sums it all up.

Bye bye Shirley!!

Well, I did as much "healing" of Shirl's diseases as I could...with my lack of time, and our local HOA (can't park trailers in the driveway) and, oh..my lack of remodel skillz, I did some research and found the best trailer remodel dude on the west coast. Brian Morrow of Bonney Lake....

Here's Brian's cool old truck, towing Shirley to his trailer hospital. (I had removed the wings to polish them up! In case you were wondering...)
The floor had to be replaced due to soft spots and rot
 New Sub Flooring
Birch replaced!
Down to the studs which were rotted and falling apart

More new birch!

The birch cabinets were restained with shellac (and a new bunk was built in back) We also installed a dorm fridge. My kids eat and I needed a real fridge so the ice chest had to go.

Marmoleum Floor - LOVE LOVE LOVE!

New shellac and paint! And you can kind of see the boomerang laminate on the sliders to the right...
Bright and sunnier! Almost.....
I love the red and yellow..but still wanted MORE yellow!

Cleaning up Shirley

All the drawers are out for sanding

There's the beautiful birch, under the sticky 50 year old shellac job

The before and after sanding pics

Shirley and her ITBS

We removed some of Shirl's bandaids and benches. Shirl was worse off than we thought.  She was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Lady-Bug-Itis and Birch-Mildew-Rot...itis.

The prognosis was not good but I decided to go for it and heal her.

I'll spare you the photos of THOUSANDS of dead ladybugs (lady bugs=good luck, right?!) All I know is the clinkity clink sound of petrified lady bugs being sucked up my vacuum hose was HORRIBLE!!!! Here are some pics of her other..."issues".

What's under this bandaid?

:( Sorry I asked...

More rot in the back...These old trailers always come with leaks....

Shirley's innards displayed for all to see

My girl loves her power tools.

Picking up Shirley

We were so excited to get our 1963 Shasta Airflyte last summer!! I grew up camping in a 13' trailer and LOVED it! The smell of bacon first thing in the morning....the splatter of bacon grease on my face as I slept a foot away in the bunk.....Ah yes, the best of times. Back to Shirl. We named her Shirley because she was red...diner looking with beautiful birch interior.

And then we took a closer look at Shirl's insides.........
